Pregnancy & Paediatrics

Pregnancy care and the care of babies & children has always been a passion for our team of Chiropractors! All of our Chiropractors, Dr Kate,  Dr Izzy,  Dr Teagan and Dr Jan were lucky enough to have Chiropractic care from a young age, and in turn, have always wanted to help others in the same way that they had been helped.

We look forward to helping you and your family.

Pregnancy

Our experienced female Chiropractors are qualified and trained in prenatal and postnatal Chiropractic care, with Webster technique certification & additional post graduate paediatric qualifications. They offer support, education and care during the exciting time of pregnancy for women.

Pregnancy is a remarkable journey. A woman's body transforms to nurture the growing baby and prepare for childbirth. The pelvis, including the sacroiliac joints, hip bones, sacrum, pubic bone, and coccyx, undergo significant changes during this time.

Each trimester presents its unique challenges, with common discomfort in the back, pelvis, pubic bone, ribs, upper back, or sciatica. Seeking Chiropractic care can help manage pain naturally, and support a healthy pregnancy.

Our chiropractors use techniques that are gentle to help restore proper pelvic function and balance for pregnant women. We have special belly pillows that you can lay on throughout your entire pregnancy, allowing you to receive your Chiropractic care in comfort.

Webster technique is one of the pregnancy techniques that we use. It is a specific Chiropractic analysis and adjustment protocol that is performed on pregnant women. It aims to reduce nervous system stress, balance pelvic bones, muscles, ligaments and optimises the mother’s pelvic function during pregnancy. This may have a positive affect on baby positioning.

Chiropractors are primary care health providers, highly trained in assessment and diagnosis of health conditions. You will NOT need a referral to see a Chiropractor, even during pregnancy.

Babies

Our Chiropractors are humbled to be in a position to help and to offer comfort to your new baby, potentially making their early days with breastfeeding, settling and sleep easier. Many babies come into this world having experienced birth trauma, which may hinder their development (because of such things as neck pain that causes fussing during tummy time).

A natural delivery alone can be traumatic to a newborn, let alone a delivery that involves medical intervention such as caesarean section, forceps, vacuum and manual distraction. Such interventions can often leave a baby with mild to severe injuries and can in some cases lead to problems such as jaw pain/bruising, neck pain/limited range of motion, plagiocephaly (misshapen head),  breastfeeding/attachment issues (due to neck and jaw dysfunction, and unsettledness (due to discomfort).

Our talented team of Chiro's are trained to assess and treat your newborn or infant for spinal, pelvic and cranial/dural dysfunction, which may allow them to grow and develop with more comfort and ease. In our practice, the Chiropractic adjustments to a new born are very gentle involving only finger pressure, such as if you were to test the ripeness of an avocado. Young babies, infants and toddlers are not manually adjusted at our clinic.

Children

Chiropractic care continues to be an important part of your toddler and young child's life. With the stress of the birthing process, the bumps and falls encountered with learning to sit, crawl, walk and then the strain caused by sport, posture and school. A child's spine and nervous system can experience a great deal of strain and stress leading to vertebral subluxation (spinal dysfunction and 'misalignment'). Regular chiropractic check ups can identify postural problems associated with growing and may in turn be corrected early on.

The adjusting procedures used on children at our clinic are also gentle and modified appropriately in order to respect the small structure of your child. We have a large family treatment room that is equipt with an abundance of toys and books to entertain the kids whilst they are there.
